green rose - about photo.jpg

“White roses and red roses: those were beautiful colours to think of. And the cards for first place and second place and third place were beautiful colours too: pink and cream and lavender. Lavender and cream and pink roses were beautiful to think of. Perhaps a wild rose might be like those colours and he remembered the song about the wild rose blossoms on the little green place. But you could not have a green rose. But perhaps somewhere in the world you could.”

James Joyce, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

Creating one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art is what I enjoy the most about my work. It is satisfying and rewarding … I like the forms in flora: they are both simultaneously fluid and natural.

A piece of metal is my blank canvas - sees the potential in a gemstone or precious metal and decides how to alter the material into something beautiful.  It is this change, sometimes subtle and sometimes dramatic, that has kept me interested in fine jewelry fabrication. Growing up and living in New York gave me the opportunity to study and teach at the Kulicke-Stark Academy, and to become exposed to the metalsmithing methods of the Etruscans, Egyptians, Celtics, Greeks, and Romans. Tones and textures all play an important role in my creations, and I utilize these Old World techniques of granulation, lapidary, chain making, hand fabrication, and cloisonné enameling with classical jewelry balancing methodology to create timeless objects.

Every granule, stone, and wire is fit, melted, and placed by hand so that each item is an original piece of art for your neck, wrists, ears, and fingers.
